The Motley Fool Launch AR Direct Mail Campaign

Aircards announces the launch of an exciting campaign with The Motley Fool, the popular private financial and investing advice company based in the US. Using web-based Augmented Reality in a Direct Mail campaign, it supports the launch of a new Augmented Reality investors service by The Motley Fool team.

The Aircards creative and AR development team created an engaging Augmented Reality experience that featured dynamic 2D video embedded within a printed custom design postcard. Like all Aircards campaigns, the experience was created in WebAR powered by 8th Wall - meaning simply no app was required for the user to view the experience. Instead, the AR content is viewed through the mobile web browser of any standard iOS or Android smartphone.

The experience actually featured three separate video scenes, whereby the user was presented with an initial menu screen to select their favoured retirement destination - beach, mountains or golf course.

Once the user has made their selection, the chosen video appears embedded within the postcard, achieved through image tracking technology.

The experience also featured custom Motley Fool branding and a Call-to-Action button to learn more about how to use the AR experience.

The initial results of the Motley Fool campaign have been exceptionally strong, with a high engagement rate among the targeted audience. Through this collaboration with Aircards, The Motley Fool team have been able to create a digital channel within their print marketing, where previously it had been static.

Michael Watson, Head of Digital Advertising, said

“This has been one of our most successful WebAR campaigns to-date, driving a significantly higher engagement rate than traditional Direct Mail performance. It has been a delight working with the forward-thinking Motley Fool team.”
